Keshet International sells global thriller CONFLICT into 30 more territories
KESHET INTERNATIONAL COMPLETES FURTHER SALES IN 30 NEW TERRITORIES FOR MTV FINLAND’S SMASH HIT CONFLICT
Following pre-launch sales and a record-breaking debut in Finland, the global content distributor has further licensed the international action thriller in India, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Georgia, Hong Kong, Pakistan, and 11 CIS territories.
Global content producer and distributor Keshet International (KI) has completed a further raft of sales for its multi-award-winning global action thriller Conflict following its world premiere on MTV Finland.
Produced by Backman & Hoderoff and XYZ Films for MTV Finland, Conflict (6x60’) explores the possibility of a proxy war breaking out in Europe and has been described as “compelling, “heart-pounding” and “remarkably timely” by the media. The English-dominant multi-language drama is officially MTV Finland's most successful original drama premiere to date, having smashed ratings records across all platforms when it debuted in Finland. Conflict went on to win Best Drama Series and Best Director at the 2024 Golden Venla Awards, and in France, ranked the #1 most-watched TV show on the CANAL+ catch-up service when it premiered there earlier this year.
Keshet International has added a swathe of additional territories to its previous raft of sales secured following its launch to market at MIPCOM 2024, successfully licensing the six-part drama to CANAL+ in Benelux, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia; to Lionsgate Play (India) in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka; BETV in Belgium; ERR in Estonia; Free TV in Israel; ITV Uzbekistan in Uzbekistan, Intra Communications in Georgia; LRT in Lithuania; Now TV in Hong Kong; TV4 in Sweden; TV Moldova 1 in Moldova; and 11 territories across the CIS, including Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, in a pan-regional deal.
These sales are in addition to license deals completed by the global content distributor in 2024, when KI sold Conflict to CANAL+ in France and Poland, AMC Networks International in Spain and Portugal, Telia Lithuania in Lithuania, Telia Estonia in Estonia, Tet and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons in Latvia, and HOT in Israel.
Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of Distribution, says, “Clients around the globe continue to respond to Conflict’s ripped-from-the-headlines plot; its English-dominant script and fantastic international cast; its thrilling action sequences and strong, relatable female lead characters; as well as its faceless “enemy” who remains unknown throughout. Conflict has everything buyers and viewers are looking for right now.”
Co-created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (Unknown Soldier, Rebellion, Inheritance), the multi-award-winning film director who also series directs this six-part series, and produced by Backmann & Hoderhoff and XYZ Films, Conflict (6x60’) stars an international cast that includes Peter Franzén (Vikings, The Gunman, Purge), Dylan Smith (Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Mazerunner: The Death Cure), Nadia Forde (Once Upon a Time in London), Sara Soulié (The Man Who Died) and Larry Lamb (Eastenders, Superman).
As a military unit of conscripts completes its training on Midsummer’s Eve, an unidentified enemy invades the picturesque Finnish peninsula. With foreign nationals amongst the 10,000 people now held hostage in the occupied area, the US President and other allies urge Finland’s newly elected President to take decisive action. Faced with the very real threat of a proxy war, President Saaristo (Sara Soulié) must follow her instincts and moral compass to not only secure the safety of her people, but also to prevent escalation into Europe and a global conflict.
Recent additions to KI’s scripted slate include Keshet 12’s powerful October 7 drama Red Alert (4x60’) produced by Hollywood legend Lawrence Bender with Green Productions – Israel’s highest-rated drama of the last decade, which KI sold to P+ in a landmark, non-exclusive global deal; and Keshet 12’s gripping suspense drama Nutuk (8x60’), where a boy’s memories of another life lead two families into the heart of a buried murder mystery.
