BARRY LEVINSON to direct & E.P. Keshest Studios' THE MISSING for Peacock

The David E. Kelley Series from Keshet Studios and Universal Television is Based on the International Bestselling Novel The Missing File

Peacock’s Original crime drama series The Missing, from prolific producer David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers), Keshet Studios and Universal Television, has tapped Oscar® and Emmy® winner Barry Levinson (Wizard of Lies, Paterno, Rain Man) to direct multiple episodes, including the first episode (101), and executive produce the series. Levinson was recently nominated for a DGA award for his work on Dopesick.

The Missing follows Detective Avraham: Guided by a deep sense of spirituality and religious principles, Avraham is left to question his own humanity when a seemingly routine investigation turns upside down.

It was previously announced that Jeff Wilbusch (Unorthodox, Oslo, Breathe) has been cast as the series lead and will play Avraham Avraham, an NYPD detective with the 77th precinct, whose belief in mankind is his superpower when it comes to uncovering the truth; Juliana Canfield (Succession) will play Janine Harris, a newly-minted NYPD detective who knows that she needs a mentor to help her master her craft; Karen Robinson (Schitt’s Creek, A Million Little Things) will play Captain Helen Davies, the woman in charge, a tough, no-nonsense, sometimes brusque boss who possesses a hard-won understanding of human nature, her job, and how to survive the NYPD’s bureaucracy; she has a gift for understanding and working with complex personalities like Avraham— she demands the best from them and rewards it with fierce loyalty; and Michael Mosley (The Sinner, The Girl From Plainville), will play Detective Earl Malzone, a veteran cop whose cutting sense of humor masks a fear that his best days are behind him (and weren’t that great to begin with). A solid family man with a wife and kids, he is dogged rather than brilliant, a good but not great investigator whose sardonic personality and teasing of Avraham masks just how much he loves his job and the people he works with.

A co-production from Keshet Studios, the US production arm of Keshet International, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, the series will be based on the internationally bestselling novel The Missing File, written by renowned Israeli crime writer Dror A. Mishani.
