Programme Overview

Description

Four years in the making, Unconditional is Keshet’s most ambitious production yet. Filmed in Israel, Georgia, and India, this gripping, cross-continental thriller takes viewers from the halls of Israeli power to the underbelly of Moscow and India’s criminal empires. Unconditional puts viewers in the shoes of Orna, a 43-year-old mother thrust into an unthinkable situation.

During a routine layover in Moscow while returning to Israel, an idyllic vacation ends abruptly in disaster when 25-year-old Gali is arrested and subsequently imprisoned for drug smuggling. With her daughter seemingly lost within the Russian prison system, Orna refuses to accept what she believes to be trumped-up charges, desperately launching an all-consuming quest for her daughter's freedom. Certain that this is all just a bureaucratic misunderstanding, Orna is shocked to discover that Gali is at the very center of a national security scandal involving conflicting self-interests, diplomatic power struggles, and levels of deception that Orna is ill-prepared for.

Orna’s worldwide odyssey quickly pulls her into a deadly web of crime and corruption that leads her to a chilling truth—Gali is not just an innocent victim. Soon, Orna can no longer deny that her best friend and daughter is not the impulsive, yoga-loving girl she believes her to be – Gali has been lying to her for years, leading a secret double life that now threatens both of their existences and compromises Israeli security. With the clock on Gali's freedom ticking ominously away, Orna questions everything she knows about her daughter—and herself.

Dripping with intrigue and shockingly unexpected plot twists, Unconditional sees a mother pushed to unimaginable extremes: how far will Orna go to save the daughter she no longer truly knows or trusts? Produced by the world-renowned Spiro Films (When Heroes Fly), Unconditional is created by two of Israel’s top storytellers, Dana Idisis (On the Spectrum) and Adam Bizanski (Magpie). Directed by Jonathan Gurfinkel (The Accursed, S#x Acts), this relatable, tense thriller stars an accomplished cast of award-winning international actors alongside newcomer Talia Linne Ronn.
