Programme Overview

Description

Marianne Schneider (19), daughter of the eccentric tech billionaire Andrew Schneider, is found dead in her rented apartment in a modest Brooklyn building. The body is found on the bed, the head covered in a plastic bag, tied to the neck with a belt. Marianne's mouth has been taped shut, and her hands are tied behind the back with rope. When the police arrive and start reconstructing the scene, the full extent of violence is apparent: The murderer had sat on the chair facing her, watching as she vainly struggled to draw her final breaths.

Andrew Schneider is determined to uncover his daughter’s real killer, two years after the murder, he holds a press conference and announces his next innovation — a crime-solving AI tool. Using crowd-sourced information, it can absolve the man wrongfully convicted of her murder. The public goes into a frenzy. Amateur detectives scramble to find evidence and potentially win the massive reward.

Though THE WISDOM OF THE CROWD could free an innocent man, greed and ulterior motives plague the AI tool’s users and compromise the investigation. Only the truth can expose the real killer and allow the grieving father to finally find peace.

This format was adapted by CBS as a procedural drama, also called THE WISDOM OF THE CROWD. In each episode, while continuing their search for his daughter's killer, Schneider and his team also investigate other unsolved cases, using technology to bring the truth to light.
