Programme Overview

Description

Investigative journalist and broadcaster Ellie Flynn travels across the UK to expose the true extent of sexual harassment towards women of all ages - from ‘dick pics’ to being flashed, groped, spiked, and raped.

Bravely putting herself in the line of fire, Flynn registers on dating apps and goes undercover to gather evidence, enduring countless harassments by men online and in real life in this jaw-dropping documentary to reveal just how vast this problem is.

With 71% of women in the UK experiencing some form of sexual harassment in public*, Ellie pretends to be drunk on a night out in Liverpool, while secretly guarded by undercover crew members. During the course of this hidden-camera experiment, multiple men approach her with unsolicited proposals while unknowingly being filmed. One man even follows her all the way back to her hotel room, where she reveals she's sober and confronts him on camera.

Later, Ellie shows the undercover footage to an all-male focus group, who all react with revulsion and discontent to the shocking evidence gathered on Flynn's revealing night out. Ellie also meets a group of teenage girls who reveal they are constantly being harassed by older men for wearing school uniforms.

Available as both a finished tape and a format, Undercover: Sexual Harassment – The Truth is a powerful and revealing expose of a global phenomenon that will shock you to the core, as it did Channel 4 viewers when it premiered in the UK.
