Programme Overview

Description

A true crime documentary series, with unprecedented access to Reeva's life and family, authentic and painstakingly detailed reenactments.

In the morning of Valentine’s Day 2013, police responded to famed Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius’ call reporting the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in a tragic case of mistaken identity. He was convicted of murder and incarcerated. Following repeated requests for early parole from Pistorius, this docuseries follows Barry and June Steenkamp's emotional journey as they are forced to come to terms with their devastating loss once again as they confront their daughter's murderer through South Africa’s Victim Offender Dialogue (VOD) process ahead of his eventual release on 5 January 2024.

In addition, leading experts in the field, state attorneys, investigating officers, and Reeva’s close friends and family also speak publicly for the first time about the events that led up to that night.

Barry and June Steenkamp grieve the horrific loss of their child – a bright, beautiful, and gentle soul whose optimism and love touched everyone around her.

My Name is Reeva is a first-hand account and exploration of the act of forgiveness and the concept of truth.
