To be truly independent, maybe you actually need each other
Roomies is an intelligent drama-comedy which overturns the presumptions that life is somehow easier when you get older, or more carefree in your youth.
Marjo dies in the middle of her 70th birthday party and widower Raimo (71) finds himself alone in the run-down family mansion. Unwilling to sell up, he and his granddaughter Amanda (24) concoct a story: they are roommates… along with some of Raimo’s old friends from his student days.
However, Raimo’s friends think he should make this plan a reality and – for different reasons – jump at the chance to move in. They are joined by other young people, and Raimo and Amanda find themselves at the heart of a shared house where everyone is finding their way in life but determined to live every day to its fullest.
