Programme Overview
Description
The A Word is a drama hit about a family’s painful and often humorous journey of denial and introspection, after their 5-year-old son is diagnosed with autism.
Season one became the tenth most-watched drama series ever to run on Israeli TV. Season two begins five years after the first ended. Pavlis is already nine years old, and Yannis and Eleni are living their lives with the realization that their son’s autism is here to stay. Pavlis attends the regular local school, with a private tutor accompanying him at all times, while Yannis opens up a dreamy little restaurant on the edge of a desert cliff. The season revolves around the couple's new dilemma: whether to try for another child.
The format has also been adapted for the BBC in the UK (see listing for The A Word UK). The finished tape of both series of the BBC One adaptation has been sold in numerous territories.
