Showdown - Aviv/Eyal sees two of Israel’s most popular and controversial performers, Aviv Geffen and Eyal Golan, take their well-known rivalry to another level in a battle to discover Israel’s next great singing talent.
This is more than a singing competition. Showdown - Aviv/Eyal is a gladiatorial clash between two giants from opposing worlds: two different musical styles - mainstream melodies vs. Israeli rock; and two conflicting subcultures - liberal vs conservative. Who will win this musical, cultural, and personality-fueled clash and create Israel’s next big star? Aviv or Eyal?
Under the watchful eye of megastar Miri Mesika, who’s feet are firmly placed in both musical camps, contestants must impress both Aviv and Eyal at the initial auditions, despite often favoring one or the other’s musical style. In her role as tiebreaker, Miri is on hand to settle major disagreements and ultimately decide who advances to the ‘Audience Auditions’.
Having prepared a song with both Aviv and Eyal, our successful singers must now read the crowd and make an on-the-spot decision while standing on stage, under the glare of the studio lights. Whose musical arrangement will win the audience’s hearts and votes, guaranteeing their survival in this competition? Aviv or Eyal’s? The tension mounts: each contestant knows their choice will not only determine their fate, but also whose team they will be on. Meanwhile, it’s also double jeopardy for our two stars and their egos: will the singers choose to perform their arrangement or their rivals? And will that decision win them enough votes to progress and a place on their team?
For the survivors, the pressure continues as Aviv and Eyal narrow down their teams to just six each through a series of high-stakes elimination performances overseen by Miri. Then come the head-to-head duels, once again in front of a live studio audience, whittling down the remaining 12 contestants to the four most talented singers who will battle it out in our final showdown.
