Programme Overview

Description

Set among the on-going conflict between North and South Korea, SPY tells the story of a family that has settled in the South and thinks its past is long behind it. HyeRim, a former long-serving North Korean spy, is in hiding. Suddenly, 22 years after she has begun a new life, her former handler (and lover), KiChoel pays her a fateful visit. Although this time it’s not her he is interested in, but her son.

HyeRim and her husband Wooseok met and fell in love when HyeRim was still a spy. He didn’t know that he was actually an asset she had set out to recruit. When she became pregnant, HyeRim left her role as an informant behind her and changed her identity so she could raise her son in peace.

Now part of a family of four, HyeRim must make the right decisions in order to stop KiChoel telling the North Korean authorities that she is alive, while protecting her family and preventing them from finding out about her past life. As an analyst for the National Intelligence Service, KiChoel has his sights on SunWoo, HyeRim’s son because of his access to top-secret intelligence.

What lengths will HyeRim go to in order to keep him and the rest of her family from danger?
