One renowned chef and food critic sets out to visit a different restaurant every week. But he doesn’t want any special treatment – he needs to experience the place just like a regular customer.
He arrives in disguise, so that neither the restaurant’s chef, nor the waiters, nor any of the customers will recognize him.
And he always brings a date: someone who’s no expert, but who knows what she likes – just like the rest of us!
Hidden cameras document the entire evening. Our superchef will test the waiters’ professionalism with outlandish requests, home in on the little details that make all the difference and discover a dish that could use an upgrade.
After the meal is over, he asks to see the chef. Then, in front of everyone, he reveals his true identity!
The two chefs then head straight to the kitchen, where they discuss the unique history of the establishment and show us the secret of one of the simpler dishes. Then it’s time for our hero to use all his skill and experience to improve on the problematic dish. Which version will the restaurant’s regulars prefer? Will our Undercover Chef’s efforts have been worthwhile?
