Rising Star is a trailblazing interactive talent format that creates MUST SEE viewing by bringing together large audiences for a collective, active television experience. Hailing a new era in home entertainment, its inception marked a world first as the only talent show in which an unlimited number of viewers are able to determine the narrative in real-time.
During each episode of Rising Star, home audiences decide who will advance in real-time via the show’s free voting app, while individual viewers’ pictures appear on the large screen facing the performer and judges vote simultaneously by hitting their buttons in the studio. When the performer reaches the designated voting percentage the screen rises and the new star is revealed.
After more than 200 airings worldwide, the Rising Star format has evolved over time to include themed episodes and a wealth of unique creative concepts which have originated from different territories. These put greater emphasis on the performers’ journey throughout the competition, increasing the connection with the viewer and instilling a strong sense of loyalty to the contestants. Meanwhile the iconic screen and live viewing intensify the drama.
In addition to the original version on Keshet Channel 2 which has now been commissioned for a third season, eleven international versions of Rising Star have aired since its launch with more than 140 million votes cast worldwide to date. In the majority of the territories in which it’s aired, Rising Star has achieved new milestones in terms of audience share and digital engagement. In Portugal the show beat off competition from the World Cup soccer fixtures throughout the season, in Hungary it was the leading show of the week 10 out of 14 weeks on air and regularly outperformed its nearest competitor’s audience share by 100%. In Brazil and Argentina Globo and Telefe have enjoyed consistent audience shares of 30% across the series and an increase in downloads of their channel app of 1 and 2 million users respectively.
