KESHET INTERNATIONAL SEEKS TO REJUVENATE THE GAMESHOW GENRE WITH ITS EXPLOSIVE NEW CONCEPT BOOM!

Keshet International, the global distribution and production arm of Keshet Media Group, is set to unveil an explosive trivia TV game at MIPTV 2014, with the potential to drive the gameshow genre back into primetime around the world.

Due to air on Keshet Broadcasting, Channel 2 Israel in a 9.00 PM slot from early April 2014, BOOM! fuses the drama, intensity and thrill of a blockbuster action movie with the high octane fun of a video game. Full of comedy, color and excitement – BOOM!’s fresh approach rolls the intellectual AND physical challenges of existing gameshows into one must-see event for viewers of all ages. BOOM! delivers fierce tension and light-hearted humour in quick succession, extending the experience not only to those in the studio, but also viewers at home who can play along.

Alon Shtruzman, CEO of Keshet International, said, “Boom! combines an exhilarating physical gameplay with a unique visual concept. It takes the viewers on a roller-coaster ride of laughter and adrenaline guaranteeing a dramatic and colourful viewing experience.”

A squad of four, be they friends, family members or colleagues, must defuse eight (replica) bombs by answering trivia questions correctly within a strict time limit. In nail-biting scenes, the nominated player must defuse one bomb per question by cutting through colored wires which represent multiple choice answers against the clock. If the player answers correctly the prize money remains intact and they move to the next bomb, if they cut the wrong wire, or run out of time the bomb will explode strewing material across the studio and visibly shaking the set – and the squad will lose one player and 25% of the potential prize money.

Even when you’re rooting for the players in BOOM! you can’t help but quietly hope they won’t get it right, because of the thrill and laughter that awaits!

Along with BOOM! Keshet International will bring a full slate of programming across all genres to buyers in Cannes including the trailblazing interactive talent format RISING STAR, which will also be available as a finished 10 episode US series; the high-rating children’s talent show Masterclass; Israel’s most viewed scripted series, romantic comedy She’s With Me; the highly anticipated new comedy Easy Money; touching drama The A Word and the breakout, international scripted property upon which the Homeland was based, Prisoners of War.
