Keshet launches new slate at MipTV & moves into third party distribution

Keshet International will be launching a raft of new programming to international buyers at MIPTV next week, including for the first time, third party programming.

New unscripted programming includes Sure or Insure – a high-stakes game show where families play together in order to keep $1 million. The family chooses one of its members to answer 10 trivia questions and hold onto the cash prize. The catch in this game is that the player does not have any lifelines –that’s what family is for. Elsewhere, docu-reality show Remember Me? which sees a person who has made a meaningful change in their life essentially go back in time. They will undergo a reverse makeover to return to the life they once had, facing their former self and confronting peers from their past.

In scripted, highlights include Mother’s Day; which has now gone to pilot in the US for CBS starring Debra Messing (Will & Grace, The Starter Wife) putting Smash co-executive producers Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky in charge of the adaptation; The A Word, (season 2 soon to air in Israel on Keshet) a drama centering on a 5 year- old boy named Omri who is diagnosed with autism and the personal obstacles that he and his family aim to overcome and The Gordin Cell; which is in development in the US for NBC as MICE.

This MIP also sees KI move into third party distribution for the first time.
Scripted titles available from Israel’s satcaster YES DBS include drama-noir Light & Truth, which takes place in an imaginary elitist high school where a mysterious death investigation of one of the students uncovers the lives and secrets of the rabbis, students and students parents; romantic drama Devout Love, which has rated highly in Israeli prime time; youth skewing sitcom Fox Force which sees a group of teenage working at a fast food chain and creating a cult horror series in between customers and comedy drama Honey Africa, centering on an ad agency that travels on a shoot to Africa and gets more than they bargained for on arrival.

Keshet International MD Alon Shtruzman said: “Moving into third party distribution is another important step in Keshet International’s expansion towards becoming not only the go- to distributor for Israeli content but also a premier provider of both scripted and non scripted original content to the global market.

These new programmes are available to international buyers in addition to KI’s established catalogue which includes programming including Prisoners of War, Marathon, Fair & Square, Dear Neighbours Help our Daughter Find Love, Master Class and Checkout at Keshet’s new stand LR1.05 –Lerins Hall.
