Under Leadership of Sebastian Burkhardt, SVP Digital & Acquisitions, US & UK-Based Executives will Develop Premium Original Programming for Cord-Cutting Millennials

LOS ANGELES AND LONDON – April 27, 2017 – Keshet International (KI), the global production and distribution powerhouse behind many high profile, award-winning and critically acclaimed series, has expanded its digital team with the appointments of Pasa Mustafa as creative director, digital, based in London, and Heather Brewster, who joins Keshet’s LA office as VP Development, Digital.

The pair will report to Sebastian Burkhardt, SVP Digital and Acquisitions for KI, who leads the company’s digital content initiatives as well as the recently formed Keshet Digital Studios (KDS), an international studio dedicated to premium digital-first and millennial-themed projects. Together, they will focus on content for millennials that bridges the gap between KI’s existing branches, emerging technology and the digital space.

Burkhardt said, “We have been pursuing a wide range of digital-focused initiatives across our business. Developing best-in-class original programming for cord-cutting millennial audiences is an integral part of this plan. With seasoned and respected digital development executives like Pasa and Heather bringing us  a wealth of experience and credentials in the digital programming space, we are on track to deliver a phenomenal slate of engaging, boundary-pushing creative alongside a broad range of partners, both in the US and internationally.”

Among a strong slate of KDS projects in various stages of development are:

  • Tracks, a unique coming-of-age series, that mixes edgy, gritty drama with the real-world music scene of Los Angeles, in partnership with music label Interscope Geffen A&M; the series will be written by Kenny Neibart (CMT’s Sun Records and VH1’s Hindsight) and directed by Christopher Louie (Netflix’s XOXO)
  • A co-production with Insurrection Media for the The Dead Girls Detective Agency, a who done it, coming-of-age love story about a young Manhattanite who wakes up in a glamorous hotel to discover that she’s dead, apparently in purgatory.  Her only hope of passing to the other side may be in solving the mystery of her own murder with the help of others like herself. Jerica Lieberman and Molly Margraf (ABC’s Mistresses) are attached to pen the series.
  • Blood Bath, a vampire horror thriller set in the modeling world of NYC and based on the deadliest female serial killer in history. The project hails from Israeli writing director duo The Paz Brothers, the team behind successful international feature JeruZalem,
  • The Outside, a next-gen reality format that takes place half in the real world and half in a VR world. Using groundbreaking technology to deliver a never-before-seen live reality experience for millennials.

A former global head of digital originals for Endemol, Mustafa moves into the new position from his role as a KI digital creative consultant. An award-winning developer, he has more than 20 years of experience and credits including the mobile reality show Get Close to the Sugarbabes for Nokia on O2; the Samsung-funded music show Beat on Bebo; sci-fi dystopian drama Kirill for MSN and Xbox; and Gap Year, the world’s first global reality show funded by 14 different brands, including Sony, Johnson & Johnson and Cadburys.

Brewster also brings years of experience to KDS’ Los Angeles office, having most recently served as VP, digital originals at Smokebomb and Shaftesbury Entertainment. Previously, she was a founding content executive for Fullscreen’s SVOD service, spearheading original programming and overseeing series including Electra Woman and Dyna Girl and Filthy Preppy Teens, along with producing Fullscreen’s first feature film,#O2LForever. Earlier, as director of development & production at Dolphin Entertainment, Brewster oversaw two seasons of Family Channel’s What’s Up, Warthogs!, a Canadian Screen Award-nominee for Best Youth Series. Her digital-first projects garnered Streamy, WGA and NATPE award nominations.
