KESHET INTERNATIONAL CLOSES MAJOR CHINA DEAL FOR SIX OF ITS FORMATS

Keshet International (KI), the global distribution arm of Keshet Media Group, has closed a major deal with China’s Shixi Media for six of its formats. The deal will see Shixi creating local versions of KI’s prime time children’s talent show Master Class, its dating show Girlfri3nds (with a second series already scheduled on UK’s ITV2), Remember Me?, a new docu-reality recently launched at MIPTV, entertainment show The Big Ten, second screen game show 50 Things You Have to Know and the successful satire What a Wonderful Country.

​This deal comes closely after KI recently brokered an Asian adaptation for The Successor also known “The Next Uri Geller”, through its distribution partner Red Arrow International. The Successor is a studio-based reality talent show that seeks to find the country’s best protégé mentalist who has the most extraordinary abilities to perform mind-bending acts to be the next Uri Geller. One of China’s leading comedy troops will star in the adaptation of What a Wonderful Country, known is Israel as  Eretz Nehederet, otherwise considered as Israel’s Saturday Night Live where the show’s format is a series of comedy sketches presented as satirical news broadcasts that parody events that have made headline news over the week.

Since its foundation in 2004, Shixi Media has collaborated with almost all the major provincial satellite TV channels in mainland China on format licensing, TV production and merchandising. In 2006, Shixi Media collaborated with Hunan Satellite TV to produce the Chinese version of Strictly Come Dancing.
